Decentralized Coordination in Self-Organizing Systems based on Peer-to-Peer Coordination Spaces

چکیده
Coordination is an important aspect to realize Self-organizing Systems usually implemented as part of the functional properties of the system. This paper promotes a separation of concerns via a declarative approach to realize decentralized coordination in Self-organizing Multi-Agent Systems (MAS). In previous work the concept of Coordination Spaces was developed which provides explicit support for the task of coordination in MAS. Coordination Spaces are part of the agent environment and handle a declarative description of the coordination process. Thereby, this approach allows developers rather focusing on what to coordinate than on how to coordinate. Also by releasing the developer from programming coordination manually, the approach offers benefits like reusability and interoperability of coordination processes. This paper extends the approach by a distribution concept for coordination spaces. By using different techniques like remote service calls, group communication and publish/subscribe models the distribution of information among multiple platforms in a peer-to-peer like approach is achieved.

Peer-to-Peer Overlay Network Based on Swarm Intelligence
As the number of information in the Internet constantly increases and the complexity of systems rapidly grows, locating and manipulating complex data has become a difficult task. We propose a self-organizing approach that combines purely decentralized unstructured peer-to-peer (P2P) with space based computing in order to effectively locate and retrieve information from a network. The approach i...
متن کاملInfrastructure for Information Spaces
In the past, we talked about single information systems. In the future, we expect an ever increasing number of information systems and data sources, reaching from traditional databases and large document collections, information sources contained in web pages, down to information systems in mobile devices as they will occur in a pervasive computing environment. Therefore not only the immense am...
متن کاملPolicy Based Framework for Trust Management and Evolution of Peer to Peer Groups
Peer to peer collaborative groups are becoming increasingly popular for collaborative applications like video/audio conferencing, IP telephony, file sharing, collaborative work spaces, and multi-user games. The decentralized nature of these groups gives rise to the need of a secure group layer which integrates authentication, admission control, authorization, access control and key management. ...
متن کاملA pheromone-based coordination mechanism applied in P2P
In this paper, we discuss the principle of synthetic pheromones, which we view as a high level coordination mechanism suitable for highly scalable, open and self-organized systems, of which peer to peer systems are an example. We present a stable abstraction for the application of synthetic pheromones, building on an existing coordination mechanism, objectspaces. The coordination principle is e...
متن کاملExploring the Catallactic Coordination Approach for Peer-to-Peer Systems
Efficient discovery and resource allocation is one of the challenges of current Peer-to-Peer systems. In centralized approaches, the user requests can be matched to the fastest, cheapest or most available resource. This approach, however, shows scalability limits. In decentralized models, the functionality of the system is often more important than achieving assignments which reduce its overall...
